7 Billion plus inhabitants and increasing, Only one planet earth, We must act now in the present for a secured future.
We all have probably heard about COP21, if not you’re living on another planet where climate change does not exist. So whats all the talk about?
A global climate agreement has been finalized in Paris and hear what has been agreed on.
The deal unites all the world’s nations (nearly 200 countries) in a single agreement on tackling climate change being hailed as “historic”
- To keep global temperatures “well below” 2.0C (3.6F) and “endeavour to limit” them even more, to 1.5C
- To limit the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity to the same levels that trees, soil and oceans can absorb naturally, beginning at some point between 2050 and 2100
- To review each country’s contribution to cutting emissions every five years so they scale to the challenge
- For rich countries to help poorer nations by providing “climate finance” to adapt to climate change and switch to renewable energy.
“It is a victory for the most vulnerable countries, the small islands, the least developed countries and all those with the most to lose, who came to Paris and said they didn’t want sympathy, they wanted action.” Dr Bill Hare, CEO of Climate Analytics
